翁啟惠院士曾擔任台灣中央研究院院長，目前為生技醫療產業策進會會長，同時也是台灣第一位威爾許化學獎得主，以表彰其在化學研究的重大貢獻，特別是醣科學的革命性發展。美國威爾許基金會是化學領域最負盛名的國際獎項之一，旨在推動和鼓勵能夠造福全人類的基礎化學研究。
翁啟惠院士31歲時到美國麻省理工學院化學所攻讀博士，3年即取得博士學位，2002年更獲選為美國國家科學院院士。恭喜翁啟惠院士再次取得非凡成就！

🙌Congratulations to Dr. Wong Chi-Huey for receiving the 2021 Welch Award in Chemistry!
Dr. Wong, the former President of Academia Sinica and current President of the Institute of Biotechnology and Medicine Industry, is the first person from Taiwan to win the Robert A. Welch Award in Chemistry for his breakthrough research on enzyme technology. Awarded by the U.S.-based Welch Foundation, this award is one of the world’s most prestigious honors in the field of chemistry, recognizing significant chemical research contributions that benefit humankind.
Dr. Wong pursued his PhD in the United States at the age of 31, and 23 years later, he was elected as a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2002. Congratulations on another exceptional achievement, Dr. Wong!
